Within her practice, Quinda aims to create a space for conversation and reflection on the role of humans in the alteration of landscapes. In her work, every series explores a different fragment of the larger story. Her new series Sea Sparkle refers to a natural phenomenon characterised by a bright blue glow in the water. The appearance is caused by the sea sparkle algae (Noctiluca scintillans) - a tiny organism that multiplies quickly in warm weather. Movement of the waves causes a chemical reaction, also called bioluminescence, which releases energy which is then converted into light.

Quinda’s new works capture this energy in a magical way, like millions of blue lights seemingly dancing between the waves. Charged by light, the works will glow in the dark when surrounded by darkness. During the day, the works show various tones of green, blue and grey - the calming colours of the ocean.
