This work is the result of an artistic residency project IN SITU initiated by Ronald de Ceuster and made possible by Lucré Schoorlemmer and Tonneke van Oss who opened their ‘Casa Madrugada’; a small ‘useless’ building in Portugal for the duration of the project. Six artists, among which Jan Theun , were invited to embark on their creativity with this small building on a farm as the reference point.
In December 2021 Jan Theun moved to the farm. There was a lot of rain that month, so work progressed slowly. His process moved from expectation and presupposition, to frustration and disappointment, to amazement and reconsideration, until finally he was able to create something that did justice to his surroundings.
