Introducing Vera Klaus!
We are excited to share that Vera Klaus is joining Root Gallery! Vera Klaus is a visual artist who explores the painting medium to reach a state of happiness and joy that can be directly translated to the viewer. Below you can read more about what inspires and constitutes her practice!
After graduating in graphic design and working in the field for consecutive years, Vera Klaus switched her course. Moving away from predetermined actions, shapes and result based thinking she began exploring the painting medium. Fed by a strong urge to express herself creatively and freely, Vera developed a unique approach in which intuition plays an essential role.
Vera’s paintings consist of bright and colourful compositions in which she makes use of different materials such as spray paint and acrylic paint as well as chalk. With music as her muse - which creates a flow and gives rise to positive emotions - she enters a state of happiness that is directly connected to the action of painting.
Vera has two approaches to her working method. One that is characterised by a minimal and detailed composition and one that is very expressive and intuitive. The first approach requires more steps, trial and errors, and time to reflect. For the second approach Vera fully emerges herself in the artwork, letting go of all expectations and making full use of the canvas. Free reign of expression, created in one go. These two ways of working are always interconnected and cannot exist without one another.
With her work, Vera aims to transfer her state of happiness to the viewer. By means of her attributed titles she is able to further emphasise this positive energy; the feeling of the sun kissing your skin on a lovely spring day, the visual of a field of flowers in bloom, the memory of a warm encounter.. Everyday life experiences like these form a continuous source of inspiration. With a family of five, Vera furthermore draws inspiration from the everyday chaos of their family household. Everyday is a special day, in which her children feed her positive energy. In the process of creation, she can be a kid too.
By being fully engaged with the present, she allows herself to be surprised by/in the future. This positive way of thinking is directly reflected in her artworks. In that sense her works can also be described as a physical result of a moment in which she was fully in tune with the present.
Vera’s work will soon be shared on our online channels. She will too present her works during the art fair presentation at Art The Hague from October 2-6 2024. If you wish to view her work before this time, please feel free to reach out via contact@root.gallery
