We have some news!

We are pleased to inform you that Root Gallery will move its location to a different part of Rotterdam in 2021! Root Gallery has successfully extended beyond the boundaries of the traditional gallery model by focusing on transparency and collaboration within the artistic community. In addition, the gallery’s online presence offers those outside of Rotterdam to engage with the works without having to travel to the actual physical space. By facilitating continual communication between artists, collectors and visitors, Root helps build a greater understanding within the community, clarifying the relationship between the public and the contemporary art market. Moving to a different location offers opportunities to expand on Root’s transparent and collaborative core values, including more people in the process. For its new location, Root sought for a larger space which would allow more room for special programming, offering the artists more freedom to produce larger works or installations. Also, the new location has a large stock space where visitors can easefully wander and look around. To make things even better, new artists will be welcomed to the gallery in the upcoming year. This will not only enhance the collective nature of the gallery, but it will also bring about more opportunities for programming.

We believe it will be a special, joyful place for both visitors and artists and hope to welcome you soon! The new location will be announced in January. Before that time, you can still enjoy our current exhibition, Elusive Thought, with works from Quinda Verheul and Donald Schenkel until the 2nd of January.

Despite the uncertainty and setbacks of this year, the situation presented to us also made way for the development of new ideas. We are grateful for your interest and support and excited to explore the opportunities that lie ahead. On behalf of Root Gallery we wish you the happiest holidays!
