Jan Theun van Rees

Avondrood by Jan Theun van Rees
€6,500.00

By Jan Theun van Rees
240 x 121 cm, 2021
Sublimation print on acrylic textile in light box with aluminum frame
Edition 1 / 3

Jan Theun van Rees holds a life-long fascination for spatial representation on a flat picture plane. This has manifested to his specialisation in photographing (interior-) spaces.  He gravitates to spaces that fascinate him, for example, when light plays an unexpected game in a small corner behind a door. His gaze at actual spaces is influenced by his studio work while afterwards the constructed spaces always appear to have their origin in previous spatial experiences. This studio and on-site interaction are inspirational and lead to many new insights and creative opportunities. From 2018 onwards, Jan Theun started constructing his own spaces, created just for the photograph; an intuitive and time intensive process. When he looks through his camera and experiences a space never seen before, he takes the photograph.

Karen van de Vliet

Maybe Tonight by Karen van de Vliet
€6,900.00

By Karen van de Vliet
290 x 140 cm, 2022
Mixed acrylic paint on cotton

From the series Color Poetry

Moving away from line and figurative art, Karen van de Vliet developed a new approach to her work that is focused on embracing an imperfect beauty. Working with the concept of a stain, Karen was able to go back to the base, to the essence, which continues to be at the core of her practice. She is intrigued by shapes that have arisen on the weathered, chipped, broken, planed and dented surfaces. In these weathered parts Karen finds the essence of true beauty. Taking inspiration from these findings, she creates wondrous abstract pieces that contemplate imperfection. Acrylic paint, water and differing other materials are intuitively applied - often to unstretched cotton - giving free rein to expression.

Saïd Kinos

Head In The Clouds by Saïd Kinos
€6,300.00

By Saïd Kinos
180 x 150 cm, 2023

Acrylic on linen

This large, intricate painting by Saïd kinos explores abstraction in a very profound way. Saïd is fascinated by the ways in which people communicate through language, symbols and changing technologies. The high speed in which information is presented to us, and with it the transience of our modern forms of communication, is a common denominator in all his work. Meanwhile, subjective associations and differing contexts can alter the reception of words and messages. In this, Saïd finds an element of abstraction which he explores through high-contrast, vibrant colour combinations and fragmented typography. Taking visual elements from anywhere he can find and recomposing them in a way to make them his own, Saïd creates his own reconstructed versions of reality.

Sophie de Vos

As The Dust Settles, I Realize You Were Never Here by Sophie de Vos
€4,100.00

By Sophie de Vos
Proline Vibrant Satin 290 gr on 4 mm Dibond, 2018
Ed. 2 + 1 AP (140 x 210 cm)

In the series Time Is All I’ve Got Sophie reflects upon the concept of time and the emotional weight it carries. Being able to understand the meaning of time makes us aware of the passing and ending, it makes us realize impermanence. This awareness is part of our human nature, but how does it drive and direct us?
Sophie's fascination for human beings is an ongoing inspiration for her artistic practice. She takes a strong interest in human bodies, psyche, interactions, and memories, these themes she displays throughout her work. Delicately, she manages to pose questions on human nature and develops touching narratives with personal experiences, emotions and encounters as points of inspiration.

Donald Schenkel

Wall Sculpture No.2 by Donald Schenkel
€16,000.00

By Donald Schenkel
157 x 12 x 12 cm each (6 pcs), 2022
Oil paint on linen, European plane wood

The realisation of his new series has resulted from a new research into the approach of paintings as objects. The immaculate colour transitions which characterise Donald Schenkel’s oeuvre melt together with wooden beams, inviting viewers to view the works from different angles. Gradients follow the shape of the wooden beam, allowing the light to travel to different parts of the work, resulting in the oil paint to expose different tones of its colour. In these new works, Donald plays with the concept of minimalism. To form his compositions, he makes use of a geometric rectangular shape, while also using natural products like wood and oil paint that are at odds with minimalism. The colour lines are applied as an interruption of calm tones incorporating emerald green, cerulean blue and coral orange.

Green Dawn (Triptych) by Donald Schenkel
€13,500.00

By Donald Schenkel
180 x ±405 cm (180 x 180 cm / 180 x 120 cm / 180 x 85 cm) cm, 2020
Oil paint on linen

From the series Vibrancy

Opposite the expanse of lightness, there is the depth expressed by shadows. The series Archaic Shadows is grounded in this depth, found in gradients where lighter colours dissolve into darkening twilights. For Donald the book In Praise of Shadows points out the beauty of what we would consider darkness, and that befits the sensibility of these artworks. Shadows linger on the edge of the unknown, mystical and dark. Often made on wood and shaped into sculptures, the colour transitions in this series are grounded but deep. As his first venture into sculptural paintings these works sparked his attention to the object, the artefact and the archaic. This sensation of the ancient and otherworldly fits his idea of a silent wonder well yet contains a potency to be further explored.

A large-scale artwork does more than capture attention, it shapes the entire experience of a space and invites people to engage with it. Choosing something bold can feel like a leap, but we believe in daring to go big.
