Noah Arends is a visual artist whose work balances stylish monumental objects with playful, characteristic images. Collage lies at the heart of her practice, serving as the foundation of her creative process. By collecting fashion photographs, Arends creates compositions that are scanned, digitally edited, and printed on textiles. These prints, naturally limp and shapeless, are then given three-dimensional form by being stretched over frames or wooden sculptures.

Inspired by fashion photography, Noah’s work goes through multiple transformative layers. The resulting imagery is highly aesthetic and captivating, similar to the purpose of the initial images. Yet now, the image is stripped of all its commercial character. Using fashion photography as an aesthetic tool, actually as a separate art form, creates a very interesting interplay. It is like the paint that she uses for her work to create a new image.

Her work is characterised by hidden secrets and artisanal layering, where shapes, colours, and structures define the visual essence of her abstract and vibrant creations. Through deep research into materials and techniques, particularly textiles, she has made them an integral extension of her art practice. This allows her to include surprising elements, inviting viewers to discover new depths and interact with her work.
